When you think of deadly animals, if you’re like most people you probably picture a shark, or a lion… or perhaps a snake. So it may surprise you to learn that some of the biggest, fiercest creatures on Earth are actually far less deadly to humans – by the numbers – than some common pests and parasites.
Believe it or not, sharks kill only about 10 people a year, while the comparatively “benign” mosquito is responsible for the deaths of several hundred thousand humans annually.
Despite the potentially deadly nature of these 15 animals, it’s important to remember that every living creature on the planet has a unique role to play in preserving the ecosystem.
