  • Infectious canine hepatitis (ICH) is caused by the canine adenovirus type 1 (CAV-1), and can result in damage to cells throughout a dog’s body, and in particular, cells found in the kidneys, liver, and eyes. The canine adenovirus type 2 (CAV-2) core vaccine also provides protection against CAV-1, and for about a dozen years between 2000 and 2012, no cases of ICH were reported in the U.S.
